Kai Ohashi, AAMS®
Kai entered the financial planning industry because he is passionate about helping people. His personal goals are achieved when his clients reach their ultimate goals. He believes it’s important to invest his time in understanding what his clients are working toward before they invest their money. In his practice, he collaborates closely with clients’ CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to determine the most appropriate financial strategy for each individual and their loved ones.
With a diverse background rooted in the islands, Kai brings a unique perspective to his work. Born in Shizuoka, Japan, and raised in Pupukea on the North Shore of Oahu, he is fluent in Japanese and a proud graduate of Kahuku High School.
EXPERIENCE
Prior to becoming a partner at Mission Financial group, Kai served as a financial advisor and branch leader at Edward Jones for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked as a client relations manager for ING DIRECT/Capital One for four years.
EDUCATION
He attended the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business, where he earned a bachelor's degree in international business and marketing. In 2016, he obtained the AAMS™ professional designation to further enhance the service he provides to his clients.
PERSONAL
Outside of his professional endeavors, Kai enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Larissa, and their daughter, Rumi. He enjoys spending time in the water surfing, traveling the world with his family, spending time with their corgi and getting in some rounds of golf.
In the community, he is especially proud of his involvement with the Alzheimer's Association Aloha Chapter, serving as both an Advisory Board Member and the volunteer chair for its largest fundraiser, “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s.” With a grandmother who suffers from dementia, he understands the impact that the disease has on both the person suffering from the disease and the family members who take on the role of the caretaker.
